What’s the rush?

It is interesting that until 2010 Unionists in general tried hard to prevent a referendum on Scottish independence from ever happening (your report, 14 December).

Now they want it as soon as possible – presumably because they think that will favour their cause.

Personally I wish the restoration of Scottish independence as soon as possible, but if waiting for two or three years for people to get better informed will help get a result more in line with democracy and with Scottish interests, then so be it.
