‘War tax’ rises

Barack Obama’s posturing on Iran that he does not “bluff” is a violation of international law. It is against the UN Charter to threaten another country. Obama’s bullying on Iran is exactly the same script that was followed by George W Bush on Iraq in 2002.

Obama is putting the strategic interests of Israel above those of the US and the rest of the world cynically to get the money from the Israel lobby for his re-election.

Iran has no nuclear weapons programme. This has been verified by a rigorous inspection programme conducted by the International Atomic Energy Authority. Those who say they do are telling a pack of lies. The pressure to attack Iran now comes from a tiny band of fanatics within the Likud Party in Israel and neocon lunatics in Washington.

Israel, on the other hand, does have nuclear weapons which are subject to no inspection.

Israel continues to occupy the West Bank in violation of numerous UN Security Council resolutions. The majority of peoples in both countries and in the world do not want a war. The majority of people around the world rightly regard the US and Israel as the biggest threat to world peace.

The current spike in the price of oil is being driven by international speculators due to the uncertainty of an attack on Iran.

In effect we are all paying a war tax at the petrol pump due to the war-mongering of Benjamin Netanyahu.

War with Iran would be madness and must be avoided at all costs.
