Vexed issue

RICHARD Lucas writes (Letters, 27 September), “The whole abortion debate is stifled by the feminist ire it generates.”

It is stifled, too, by the religious ire it generates. The best way to avoid a situation in which “the delicate philosophical questions will be overwhelmed by vested interest” (I quote Mr Lucas again) will be for the religious, as well as the feminists to stay out of the debate.
