Union ‘benefits’

Now that the debate on independence appears to be entering a more critical phase, I wonder if those advocates of the Union who constantly tell us that being part of the UK gives Scotland benefits could expound on these.

I thought of a few: we get the chance to join in on illegal and unwinnable wars; we get to spend billions on nuclear missiles; we get to spend billions on the London Olympics, from which Scotland will benefit by an estimated 0.4 pence in the pound from the income; we are periodically subject to Tory governments alien to the vast majority of Scots; we are allowed to spend our natural resources supporting Westminster governments instead of squandering such resources benefiting Scotland itself.

I must say that, while the above reasons are tempting, I would really like a few more advantages of the Union to be expounded before I am completely convinced.
