Unfair attacks on Paul McCartney

IT IS a shame that Jeremy Watson is so keen to bash Paul McCartney that he will cite a remark by Dave Gilmour that does not bear much scrutiny (The Gazette, January 15).

Gilmour said he does not know what Paul spends his money on, so, in fact, he said precisely nothing about how charitable Paul is. Gilmour also did not say too much about his other donations - apart from this one that he has decided to tell the world about. But no one is commenting on that.

I am aware of numerous examples of Paul’s generosity, and, with a little research, Jeremy Watson and Dave Gilmour could find them, too. Maybe Paul has not given to Dave Gilmour`s chosen charity - but Dave Gilmour has probably not given to the Vegetarian Society. Does Paul have a right to criticise Dave for that?
