A UK question

The main problem being faced by the Unionist camp in the independence debate is the march that has (apparently) been stolen by Mr Salmond’s party. It has managed to make a thoroughly negative ambition into something positive, namely asking people to say Yes to a break-up of the United Kingdom.

In fact, of course, this is a nonsense. The campaign being promoted by the SNP and bankrolled by various wealthy individuals who share their tunnel vision, is actually a resounding No to our shared political, economic, historical and familial experience over the last three centuries.

To make it out to be otherwise is thoroughly disingenuous.

To that end, the entire matter of the question, or should that be “The Scottish Question” should be one that reflects reality and which does not succumb to the political sleight of hand of the separatists.

Let the proposal be honestly put to the Scottish people: “Do you want Scotland to remain in the United Kingdom?” The question could hardly be simpler.

The positive response is to continue; the negative is to destroy all that has been built up over centuries.
