Yes, hustings should be the place for fiery oratory (Ian Johnstone’s letter, 28 February).

However, when fiery oratory descends into a hopeless shouting match, in which neither of the participants can be heard or understood, it rather defeats the object. Personally, I switched off in disgust. A stairheid rammy would be a better description of what we observed last Tuesday evening on Scotland Tonight.
