Truth in art

I have just visited the amazing Gold exhibition at 
the Queen’s Gallery Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.

Federico Zuccaro’s painting, Calumny, caught my eye. This is an allegory of bad government, and contains figures representing envy, suspicion, rage and calumny.

Inevitably, in view of Alistair Carmichael’s continued refusal to do the right thing and resign, my eye was drawn to the figure representing Mendacity.
