Trust in youth

As Scotland’s leading youth charity we were delighted to hear of such fantastic exam 
results this summer.

However, it is vital that we don’t forget those young Scots who didn’t get the grades they hoped for.

New research by The Prince’s Trust and HSBC shows just how aware young people are of the potential challenges, with more than one in five young people in Scotland expecting to end up on benefits.

Many of these young people we help lead chaotic lives, often through no fault of their own, which leaves them unable to focus on schoolwork. Many of them leave school with few or no qualifications, doubting themselves and their abilities, low on confidence and unsure of where to turn.

Our message to young people is clear: “Whatever your grades, you can go on to a great career and a bright future.”

The balance of educational 
offerings for young people must be addressed so that quality 
vocational training and support is available to those who are not academically successful.

The trust, along with others, must work together to support these young people to develop vocational skills and help them into jobs.

We have teamed up with HSBC to help 25,000 young people into work and training across the UK.
