Trump cards

I took my opportunity to see Donald Trump's "master plan" this weekend at Balmedie and was initially shocked to see how far the plans extend, but one thing in particular caught my attention: Trump's assertion that his 500-house development would be "sustainable".

This set me wondering what he means by "sustainable". To be environmentally sustainable would mean: the houses would be built without any concrete; all the heat and light needed by the occupants would be made on site from renewable sources; all the waste would be processed on site and most food would be grown on site (the houses will need bigger gardens if this is the case).

If this is truly what he is planning, then I am a convert, but I strongly suspect this is not what he means by "sustainable".

Perhaps he means economically sustainable. For this to be really true, the residents should be earning their living on the site, which must mean that he is going to pay phenomenal wages to green keepers, bar staff, cleaners etc in the holiday homes and golf course to enable them to afford these luxury homes – we should all be queuing up for the jobs now.

Somehow I don't believe this is what he means either, so here is the challenge to Mr Trump:

just answer what is "sustainable" about this development? And what are the hundreds of jobs supposedly being created to offset the destruction of our wild environment?
