Tough tactics to deter litter louts

WE SEEM to be a nation of litter louts these days with tons of litter being dropped and discarded daily despite having laws to discourage this filthy and inconsiderate behaviour.

Something urgently needs to be done. It may take some radical changes to our laws governing litter louts, making the offence punishable by steeper fines, and community service orders – as in Singapore – for which litter louts serve in teams, picking up litter, and are forced to wear hi-viz jackets with public exposure and humiliation for their offence.
