Taxation disgrace

Derrick McClure (Letters, 17 December) writes semantic drivel. Whatever slant he cares to put on it, money raised from taxpayers is taxpayers’ money.

It may be legally correct for the SNP government to spend this money on propaganda pursuing its separatist cause but at a time when health and education departments are failing to meet the SNP’s own targets it is morally and ethically disgraceful that money is being wasted in this way on something which deep down even the SNP must realise is a lost cause.

Polls show that the vast majority of taxpayers are against independence and I am sure that they, like me, strongly resent this misuse of funds at a time when services are suffering.
