Tartan on parade

I was aghast to see the photographs of the new uniform for the Commonwealth Games, which looks more like an outfit suited to the White Heather Club show of the 1960s.

The tartan is an appalling misrepresentation of traditional tartan and the shirts look like flock wallpaper taken from a restaurant.

I do hope that the athletes have a second strip.

If the cringe-worthy uniform to be worn by Scots competitors at the Commonwealth Games is an example of Scottish decision-making, it will do much to swell the No vote in the independence referendum. Frankly, one would not do this to a sofa!
