Storm in teacup

If only opening a tearoom was as simple as a call to “cups, saucers and tongs” (Perspective, 28 November).

Fighting globalisation seems a piece of cake compared with getting an application through the planning process. Apparently, a local committee of Aberdeenshire Council has no taste for a “good old-fashioned tearoom”.

Last week an application for a tearoom near a residential area went down like cold tea.

The planners approved but for some councillors it would be “too noisy” for a residential area.

Perhaps an appeal to Scottish ministers will “halt and reverse the march of the muffins”.
