Split will let Scots flourish

THE headlines on page 6 of Scotland on Sunday (26 February) “Unrepentant Clegg tries to avert divorce” caught my eye and I read on “...Deputy PM believes Scots don’t have to split to gain more power”. The fact we are debating the issue of independence indicates a very unsatisfactory “marriage” with inequality of relationship being the main problem.

I think that it’s less of the case that we desire more power and more that we would like to have self-determination, respect and acknowledgement as a partner in her own right.

If we have to separate in order to rectify this long-standing situation, then so be it. At least we will have a chance to flourish and prove our worth – even to ourselves.
