Speed up the A9

I note the recent correspondence about the "unsafe" A9 (Letters, 19 June) and wonder how many accidents are caused, within a mile, by crawling supermarket trucks keeping strictly to speed limits set in the 1970s.

Dualling the whole length of the A9 is highly unlikely; it will be expensive and money is scarce. Why don't we try updating the speed limits to suit modern road conditions and vehicles and see if this can go some way to reducing driver frustration and hence accidents?
