SNP’s down talk

Perhaps in response to increased recent Unionist focus on its plans, the SNP is increasingly accusing any individual who critiques its policies or suggests that the path to independence may not be as smooth and as simple as it portrays as “talking Scotland down”.

The last time I encountered this tactic was when US neo-cons asked anyone daring to question George Bush’s war on terror why they “hated freedom so much”.

In both cases the purpose of the response is to shut down rather than open up reasoned debate.

I want Scotland to thrive and prosper.

I can hold this view without being persuaded that the grandiloquent adventure being proposed by the current SNP government is in Scotland’s best interests.
