SNP must act to calm tensions

I WELCOME the fact that Andrew Wilson (Insight, 27 April) recognises that the referendum debate in this country has become too corrosive, damaging business and Scottish jobs.

The cybernats are now infamous – who can forget the vitriol directed earlier this year at Bill Munro and David Bowie? Too many statements on pro-Yes websites are anti-English. Even the Alan Bissett play during the recent SNP conference ridiculously portrayed Scotland as an oppressed nation, but to riotous applause.

If Margo MacDonald’s words last Friday are to mean anything, then senior SNP ministers must act this week to calm down tensions. Actions speak louder than words.
