Smoking shock

I was shocked to read the report on children’s smoking rates (22 February), which revealed that some children as young as 11 are taking up the habit and many are influenced by parents who smoke .

The “no smoking” law was probably the best piece of legislation ever to come from Holyrood in terms of improvement in Scottish lifestyle and the right to clean air, but this act needs to be extended to all cars and open community places such as parks and beaches, in addition to the current legislation being introduced – and naturally resisted fiercely by the tobacco companies.
