Sexual morals

I HAVE no time for those few who seek to excuse rape or diminish its seriousness, but any attempt to reduce the incidence of rape must involve tackling the prevalent culture of heavy drinking and sexual promiscuity.

For example, how many youngsters will feel emboldened to emulate Prince Harry’s exploits? And might some of these encounters result in drunken consented, but regretted, sexual intercourse?

I fail to understand Joyce McMillan’s connection (Perspective, 24 August) between violent pornography and the “religious right”, as it is usually the “religious” and the “right” who campaign the most vigorously against pornography.
