Setting standards

Dr Bruce Peter (Letters, 8 October) feels that the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) is only interested in setting minimum standards for universities. If that were true I would share his concern. But in fact the QAA works closely with the Scottish university sector to ensure the highest possible quality of student learning experience.

Our whole approach is based on enhancement, and on recognising and celebrating the vibrant diversity of our universities. Indeed, next June we are organising a major conference in Glasgow which will showcase Scotland’s excellent higher education sector to a large international audience.
