Sea of troubles

Our entirely voluntary RNLI rescue service is the best available and is receiving an increasing number of call-outs from fishermen in small craft who are badly equipped and trained in seamanship.

This increases the risk to their own lives and those of the lifeboat crewmen called out to rescue them.

It is perhaps time for the safety-at-sea regulations to be extended and tightened up for all sea-going vessels.
