THE Secretary of State for Scotland, Mr Hector McNeil MP, has confirmed a scheme prepared by the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board for the erection of overhead transmission lines to run from Aberdeen to Dundee and link up electricity supplies in these cities.

The lines will run from a transforming station which is being erected at Craigiebuckler, Aberdeen, through the counties of Aberdeen, Kincardine and Angus to an existing transforming station at Strips of Craigie, Dundee.

The scheme is estimated to cost 372,000. It was approved by the Electricity Commissioners on March 31, 1948 and submitted to the Secretary of State for continuation.

The Amenity Committee did not make any recommendations on the scheme, but they obtained an assurance that the lines would not interfere with any places of historic interest. Objections were lodged against the scheme, but were not persisted in.
