School fees

I THOUGHT many of those quoted in Webview (29 August) had some rather unkind and ungenerous things to say about people who send their children to private schools.

They were responding to a news article (28 August) pointing out that fees had risen by 63 per cent, and that consequently the middle classes were being squeezed.

While it is true that most people who pay for their children’s schooling have a lot of money, it is also the case that many of
us make a lot of sacrifices to
ensure our offspring get a decent education.

We scrimp and save for the benefit of our daughter’s schooling. We haven’t had a holiday in more than ten years and I work six days a week.
