The roads to ruin

While travelling daily to the
recent Scottish Open in Gullane I could not help but notice the amount of litter that was by the side of the road on the bypass, and on the nearby roundabouts.

When I telephoned the City of Edinburgh Council to report this, they told me it was not their responsibility but that of East
Lothian Council.

Nobody seems to appreciate that this litter is very bad for our image and shirking of responsibility really is not very helpful.

Why don’t the grass cutters pick up the litter at the same time, as it is so unsightly?

Edinburgh is generally not a particularly clean city and litter abounds. This does not present a good image to our foreign visitors when coming to visit our otherwise beautiful country.
