Rightful claims

IN reference to the article "Premiums surge as compensation rises" (29 January), if someone is injured and suffering because of someone else's negligence, that person is absolutely within his rights to claim fair redress, regardless of the severity of the injury.

The fact that more people are becoming aware of their rights should be welcome and it should also be noted that a claim for compensation cannot succeed unless negligence is proven.

The AA representative also fails to mention that a growing number of insurers are actively pursuing injured people and offering them compensation within hours of an injury, when they have not even considered making a claim, in an attempt to cut out any possibility of independent legal representation.
