Right to rant

Dr McCormick (Letters, 20 December) chides Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon for “ranting about weapons of mass destruction”.

He suggests that this is not appropriate language for a senior government minister.

But senior UK ministers, including the prime minister of the time, talked a lot about weapons of mass destruction to justify their war on Iraq. In fact, Iraq proved not to have such weapons, while undoubtedly the UK does – and it appears that most Scots, not only the SNP government, would like rid of them from Scotland.
