Restraint in Iran

Your report, “UK steps up plans for attack on Iran” (3 November), makes extremely worrying reading.

In the run-up to the US presidential election it is clear that the powerful pro-Israeli lobby is hell-bent on pushing America into an attack on Iran. As usual, Britain is being carried along on the coattails. We have been in Afghanistan for ten years with nothing to show for it but hundreds of dead servicemen.

Iran is a huge country with a population of 75 million and any attack will have unpredictable but surely disastrous consequences for the whole world.

The British government should be urging restraint on all sides and making it clear we will play no part in any attack on Iran, rather than, as your report says, becoming complicit in such action.
