It must be a source of great satisfaction to the Scots, and those who have chosen to be Scots, that there is a real prospect of sending real Scottish MPs to Westminster.
In the past we have had time wasters, seat warmers and careerists pretending to represent us; it seems that in Scotland we have at last got wise to the usual rag bag of party apparatchiks.
The fear engendered in the London establishment reminds of those lines from Burns: “Wee sleekit cow’rin tim’rous beasties oh whit panics’ in thy breisties”.
The London establishment has for decades been in need of a good sharp jolt and on the 7th with a bit of luck they will get one. Scotland will be heard and attention will be paid.
