Putting Faroes in their place

RE: LAST Sunday’s travel article in Spectrum magazine. The Faroe Islands are under the sovereignty of Denmark, but they are not “just to the west of Denmark”. They could be better described as to the west of Norway, but at a distance of some 400 miles – approximately halfway between Norway and Iceland. The distance from Denmark, according to Wikipedia, is 620 miles.

Also Stornoway is not “on the Isle of Harris”, but on Lewis. Lewis and Harris are part of the same land mass, but Stornoway is very definitely on Lewis, the northern part of the island; the main town and port on Harris is Tarbert.
