Price of success

Cynical or not, Dr Mary Brown (Letters, 11 April) should be in no doubt that money is of supreme importance in our society.

Unfortunately, this is only appreciated when a person has none or it gets out of order as in the recent global financial crisis. Moreover, why, if money isn’t the measure of success, do we pay some financiers and some footballers £200,000 a week?
