Political malaise

I AM indebted to Ron Greer (Letters, 10 March) for his disclosure that, despite failures at Scottish Water, senior managers are receiving six-figure bonuses. MSPs should have found ways to stop this.

That finance secretary John Swinney should agree these bonuses is a reflection on the malaise affecting politicians and senior people in the public sector.

The Eric Joyce scandal says it all. Despite pleading guilty to common assault, he does not have to resign as an MP so continues to draw salary and expenses until the next election. He is also entitled to a gold-plated pension immediately he leaves. No wonder politicians are rated lower than solar panel salesmen in the hate tables.
