Pie in the sky

Following Jamie Oliver’s claim that he can make a mackerel pasta salad for four for £6.75 (your report, 27 Aug-ust), firstly, please enlighten us as to where he costed it.

Secondly, perhaps he could come down from his tower and complete a costing exercise in a truly rural area, with one small supermarket, where “the poor” really struggle to buy fresh food.

To suggest using “two handfuls of black olives” illustrates his lack of knowledge of the difficulties faced by people struggling to balance their food budgets.
