I read with interest that the number of people driving whilst using their mobile phones is increasing.

Given that a fine and penalty points do not seem to be working as a determent, can I suggest the police now also confiscate the phone. In addition, if the person is driving his employer's vehicle, his employer should be notified of the offence.
