Peerless debate

Rex Poulton (Letters, 13 August) describes plans for House of Lords reform as an act of treason. I would prefer to call it an act of folly.

When Parliament is in session, listeners to Radio 4's Today in Parliament will agree that the soundest of wisdom emanates from their Lordships’ house where matters are reasoned without the unseemly shouting and name-calling so often prevalent in the House of Commons.

Keep the Lords, I say.
