Paving problem

I was interested in the comments of tourists on the state of our roads and pavements (Your report, 5 June).

I presume they do not venture into many of our residential areas where their reaction would be one of incredulity. One street in our area has a pavement which is no more than gravel.

Our street was assessed by the council as being in a good state. I would hate to see an area that was classed as poor.

Council chief Steve Cardownie assures us that we cannot be as bad as Venezuela. I and many others will find this comment rather puerile.

As a wheelchair user I see the state of our streets as a hazard, putting pedestrians at risk of a fall. The result of the survey is tourists ten, council nil.
