Patriot names

Edward McGowan (Letters, 17 March) tries to clarify the difference between “patriotism” and “nationalism”.

If nationalism is “inseparable from the desire for power… is power-hungry tempered by self-deception” and patriotism is “devotion to a particular place and way of life which one believes to be the best in the world”, is it not time we started calling Unionists “UK Nationalists” and separatists “Scottish Patriots”?
