Out of the blue

I have only just noticed your item from the archives about a blue moon in Stirling on 26 September, 1950.

I am very glad to learn the date, as I have the distinct memory of seeing it on my way home from school. I was near the War Memorial on the slope near the Albert Halls, looked up, saw the moon, and realised that it must be rare, because of the recently learnt expression (as a non-native speaker of English, I was still feeling my way).

The other matter of note is that I was negotiating the journey back from school in Bridge of Allan unaccompanied by an adult, even though I was only seven and a half.
