Online challenge

I HAVE two questions for those who condemn the SNP for failing to control the alleged “cybernats”, discussion of which bizarrely dominated Scottish political debate for most of last week.

First, given that “cybernats” – who are accused of smearing the political opposition – act anonymously on internet forums, what proof is there that they are members of the SNP or have any connection with the party?

Second, if newspapers and other organisations are unable to properly monitor their own internet forums and comment web pages, do they really expect a political party to do it for them?

The whole issue of “cybernats” appears to have become a self-perpetuating myth, despite the lack of real evidence they exist.
