No policy on tax

Alistair Darling of the Better Together campaign claims that I have “called for taxes to be higher” in an independent Scotland (your report, 23 February).

This is untrue. I have said no such thing and Mr Darling should refrain from misrepresentation. Neither campaign is a political party and neither campaign has a detailed taxation policy.
