No choice

IN A RECENT letter I suggested voters should punish sitting Edinburgh councillors for the trams fiasco by voting for “someone else, anyone else”.

In May that will prove difficult as under the single transferrable vote system voters can only rank choices, which is limited when the parties field only one candidate in each ward. Voters are faced with a cosy cartel designed to keep the status quo. This is not an election, this is a procession.
