Naval gazing

Letter: Naval gazing

The situation is now so bad that if we had a terrorist attack on a west Shetland oil platform threatening a major ecological disaster, we would have to ask Norway to send one of its frigates or even ask Iceland for a gun-boat to intervene. Both would be preferable and more effective that waiting for the British Navy.

Of course if we are still part of Britain by 2030 (God forbid) no doubt the Royal Navy could send an aircraft carrier without any aeroplanes.

Now that’s a really forward thinking defence strategy. The sooner Scotland is independent and organises her own defence the better.
