Momentus music

On Friday evening I witnessed a remarkable, possibly unique moment in Edinburgh’s concert-going history when the Usher Hall audience rose to award Stephane Deneve a standing ovation.

It says much for this man’s talents and the level of admiration and affection with which he is regarded that a group, legendary in its reluctance to show much emotion, behaved in such a way.

I am sure that M Deneve fully understood and appreciated the honour bestowed upon him. He will be greatly missed and I wish him well in his future career.
