McCartney is a man for today

I READ Claire Prentice's Profile ('Yesterday's man', 20 June) on Paul McCartney just minutes before I learnt that I had the very unexpected and hugely welcome opportunity to attend Hampden myself. It is, of course, common knowledge today that Macca was on stage performing for just shy of three hours, and the stadium audience was still crying out for more. Yesterday's man not.

We live in an age of equality and diversity issues, including anti-age discrimination legislation. We are also being told on a daily basis that the country is broke and pensions amongst other commodities are decidedly feeling the pinch. What McCartney's performance demonstrated, literally loud and clear, is that to "keep on keeping on" rocks.
