Yet, having received a leaflet from my Labour candidate Major Eric Joyce, I was surprised to read much on schools, hospitals and crime, all devolved issues.
But to my surprise, no mention was made of defence, Trident and our continued presence in Afghanistan, which is surprising considering Major Joyce is a former member of the military.
