Letter: Why the secrecy?

The first item on the agenda of the Scottish Parliament justice committee tomorrow is whether to discuss in private its approach to scrutinising the Scottish Government's proposed anti-sectarian measures at football matches.

Nothing could undermine more the public's confidence in these proposals - which have already attracted a barrage of criticism for the speed with which the Scottish Government is trying to introduce them - than for the committee to decide in private how it will consider them. What is there to hide? Let all viewpoints be heard.
