Letter: Value of NTS

The National Trust for Scotland (NTS) has endured a torrid recent past which one hopes will be concluded with the election of a new board of trustees in January.

The new year is also the 80th anniversary of the founding of the NTS, something for real celebration. For it is not the baby sister of the National Trust (NT). It is totally different.

A good example is the Little Houses Improvement Scheme, a brilliant idea that takes old and dilapidated structures and brings them back to use for public benefit.

There is nothing like this south of the Border, which is maybe why so many of us in England and elsewhere join NTS rather than NT.
