Letter: Unholy row

It is a bit rich of David Robertson (Letters, 16 February) to accuse secularists of trying “to impose their philosophy and views” on others. This is exactly what religionists have been doing for centuries, whether by sword, stake or prison.

Even now, when they can no longer flog or burn their victims, they still obstruct every attempt to give gay people equality, impose compulsory worship and indoctrination on school children, try to undermine science education with creationist nonsense and expect others to put up with prayers at council meetings.

And all while enjoying unjustified privileges, from bishops in the House of Lords, to state-funded faith schools.
