Letter: Turbine noise

I write to correct information in your piece, "Silenced" (17 June). The stop notice issued by Highland Council was temporary and was lifted on 10 June, four days after it was served.

This followed a meeting with the Highland Council at which it was agreed that the notice had been inappropriate. SSE has been actively dealing with noise concerns from two residents, which occur under very specific conditions, and has a good relationship with these residents.

There are a number of other inaccuracies, including the number of turbines, the stop notice remaining in place for a month, your suggestion that the noise complaints originate from the start of generation and an impression that SSE had dismissed residents' concerns.

SSE prides itself on being a good neighbour to communities around our wind farms. We work within noise parameters set out by Scottish Government.
