Letter: Tram lines

WITH a slight apology for kicking a tram line when it’s allegedly on the up, but it is time to get my retaliation in first.

We have yet to see the full visual impact on Edinburgh’s World Heritage site streets of the overhead power lines for the system. I’m sure it will not please those who do not fondly remember the 1950s.

My question is, was consideration given to using a system such as APS (surface located), which has been used in the historic areas of, for example, Bordeaux? (Note: it does not need to be applied to the whole system.) If not – why? If the answer is cost. Doh!
